Your Questions About What Is Scuba Diving And Snorkeling

Jenny asks…

Where is the best place in Bali to snorkel/scuba dive?

I have never been scuba diving but would love to try it and I love snorkeling. What company should I go with and where about?

Tom Trindell answers:

Go to yahoo.ca or google.ca

and type “Bali scuba diving programs” or something like that, and that could help you for more info.

Surf the websites to see if any’s relevant to what you’re looking for.

Hope this helps.

Joseph asks…

What is the best Cenote for snorkeling in or around Cancun?

I will be in Cancun for a few days and would like to take a one day or partial day for snorkeling one of the Cenotes. Can someone tell me what is the best one around Cancun, and if you have an experience with a good guide or company please pass on the recommendation. I will not be Scuba diving, just snorkeling. Thanks in advance

Tom Trindell answers:

The cenotes aren’t great for snorkeling. They are dark and there isn’t much to see. The reefs have the best snorkeling. But if you want to experience a cenote I would suggest you visit Xcaret. They have an underground river (cenote) that is very fun. I attached a link to another cenote attraction, Aktun Chen for you. They also have ziplining.
Have a good time!

Linda asks…

Is scuba diving hard?

I was just wondering because I am learning how to scuba dive and snorkel…
What should I do to be prepared for it? Plus is there anyway to get over my fear of drowning and while snorkeling, choking on water?!
Thanks bunches!

Tom Trindell answers:

If you can swim 200 yards, tread water for 10 minutes, and take a written and skills test and pass, it’s very easy.

As far as overcoming your snorkling fears, try this.:

Grab your mask and snorkle and head to the tub. Yes, I said tub. A kitchen sink will work in a pinch.

Fill the tub (or sink) with a comfortable temp water. Put you mask and snorkle on, and put just your face in. A little at a time till your comfortable with it.

If it’s a wearing the mask thing, try wearing the mak around the house, just a little at a time to get used to it.
